Hildur (she/her) is a 26 year old queer feminist who likes listening to audiobooks, spending time with friends at the pool, organizing events and watching films. She is also a nursing student with a passion for mental health, harm reduction, accessible health care for minority groups and health education. In the past few years she has been working in homeless shelters and supported housing for women.
After taking a few courses in physical self defence, Hildur got to know feminist self defence and found what had been missing, especially in the verbal, emotional and mental self defence. She found it very empowering to have many different strategies and resources to choose from to act against different forms of violence and what she learned also had a positive effect on many aspects of her daily life. She therefore wanted to share this life-changing experience with others and finished a two year training of trainers in feminist self defence with the Belgian organization Garance, along with the other members of Slagtog. Hildur’s main areas of interest in feminist self defence are mental and verbal self defence, self defence for queer people and self defence for youth. She speaks Icelandic and English and a bit of French and Danish.
